EXUP Worldwide was born from the ashes of the original EXUP Brotherhood – the definitive forum for all those who have interest in Yamaha FZ, FZR, and YZF motorcycles.
I have a 1994 FZR 1000. The problem I am having is the front end feels way too stiff. I have to push hard to get the front to compress. Makes for a really bumpy ride and bad cornering behavior.
I have messed with the adjustment knob on the top of the fork but I think that is just for rebound. I don’t know of any other adjustments on the bikes shocks. (Most of my friends that ride newer bikes have at least 2 different adjustments they can make).
about 6 months ago i decided to fix my leaking fork seals on my 90 model(sitting too long with the previos owner or to many wheelies, its hard to tell)so i decided this job was not too hard as i could get help from the machanics at work if i needed it.i disassembled the forks and wet and dried the fork tubes.i then replaced the fork oil as mine forks were a bit stiff too.just as well i did,the oil that came out of them resembled mud not oil.i replaced the oil with the recomended weight oil and lowered the level by 5mm to soften the ride and not put so much presure on the fork seals as this is a weak point on the forks.the forks have not even weeped and i have been wheelying all over the place, the ride is much better as well.
