Change of plans!!

Post by sbutler »

Im pretty sure Ive fixed the fuel problems. But I havent got the money to go to the next round, $240 entry, new rear slick $350, + a service $120.

So what Im gonna do is, spend the $240 & take the bike into Dudleys, stick it on the dyno & get some more HP. I have around 130HP at the wheel now.
After talking to Duds he sugested an airbox mod [not unlike ozzys] & some jetting. He said there would be around 10 HP to be found in that!!! I asked about removing the airbox compleatly & fitting ram tubes, Also said about fitting an non EXUP racing headers & exhaust..So he said not a good idea without a modded CDI unit.

In stead of spending money on racing this round, That money will go to more HP & ridability..Not only that, If I havent fixed the fuel problems, I havent wasted money trying to fix the bike at a race meeting. Any issues will show up on the dyno..So I'll still have to buy a slick, but I wont be wearing it out trying to get the bike to run right..Sounds good ay?

Spend a little now, to save a little later. No more unreliability, no more missing races because we are fixing a problem. Just turn up & GO GO GO! Good idea or what? :banana

No No Cam not going down that road. I need to make this a turn up at the track, don Leathers, start bike, win race, load up & head home happy.
If I start hotrodding it there is the worry of breaking something resulting in even bigger costs.

I think this is the better way to get through these problems without wasting money on race day breakdowns.

Hey Mr Butler, now, I recall you saying you have never (ever) been overtaken on the straight?

When you're at Dudleys can you ask him if he's had a chance to look at the photo's I sent him (doohan frame) I don't want to badger him... but it has been a month or so :)

It will be good just for you in your mind to have everything sorted, you can then turn up and kick-arse! Cheers!

Sensible approach - I've only done a 1040 kit and already I need
a new clutch. I'm sure you will enjoy it having just gotten the most
potential out of the stock bike and being confident that it will run
as well as it handles.
