YZF 750 oilcooler and spin on filter fitted to 1000 motor
I want to fit the 750 oil cooler and spin-on filter to my 1000 motor, what needs to be done to get it to fit?
Also what to do with the oil cooler lines coming out of the oil pan, block them off? or loop them without the cooler?
Also what if everyone using for a fan? I can't fit the 750 fans behind the rad anymore, as they hit the 1000 motor now that I made the swap...

cooler lines
I just blocked the lines off at the oil pan for now, I will have to fit the 750 cooler on it when it comes apart... Thanks for looking...

Conversion
It's a bit more complicated than you think, and just blocking the lines won't do it. The difference in the two systems goes all the way to the oil pump, the 89-90 has a whole difference in that it pumps oil out of the pan and the newer one doesn't have the outlet for that neither the holes in the side of the pan. I have encountered this snag with Cosmo's conversion and since come up with a conversion kit.

It includes a different oil pan, oil Pump, full liquid oil filter housing (switches over to spin-on) and external waterpump to re-route to the housing.

All of this is necessary to keep coolant running correctly. You will need a bigger radiator though, One form many homes would suffice, check out my Getting hot thread replies. I know this engine inside and out and have all parts available with simple easy instructions.

It will however require removing exhaust and oil pan, and clutch basket/ assy with complete access to underside of engine. This is a good time to put in a Pro shift kit since you got the deterent arm in your hand too.

You will also need all new o-rings, I will provide part #'s and quanity.

89-90 on right, 91+ on Left, look, many things different!

See that hole from the oil pump, that's where the tube line goes down for the oil cooler, the 91+ doesn't have it. oil cooler
I have blocked the lines off for now, and everything seems to work good. I have a spare oil filter assembly off a 750 (spin-on) and the other coolant pipe that goes on the cylinders under the carbs (750) I don't need to buy a conversion if I have all the parts here??? I have spare everything for a 750, so If I can use those parts I will. I also have a rad from a ZX7 Kawi that I know guys have been using, with the original fan from the FZR 1000 motor. I just need to know which parts I can use and combine?
Can I use a 750 oil pump and oil pan, with the spin-on filter assembly on this motor, or do I have to get parts from a newer 1000. The cheapest and easiest route is what I am after...
