A great Fathers Day ride

Post by dragracer1951 »

I went for a 280 mile Fathers day ride yesterday.
The weather was in the low 80's in south Puget Sound. I met up with about 20 guys from one of the other boards and we did some of the legendary local roads. I had the oldest bike in the group and even had some comments on what a nice older bike it was and "Wow, You really get that thing leaned over" Kept it in third most of the day between 3 and 10K and just rocked off corners....
I was pretty impressed with the 014's cause they really stuck well and I most certainly had them heated up. I nearly over ran one decreasing radius corner though and I would have too, if I hadn't done the Brembo and R1 caliper mod. I had increases the damping on the shock by three clicks and that made a world of difference in the back end. Much more stable on the brakes getting into a corner and as you pick up the throttle off the apex.

I even got to enjoying the drive off corners and watching the new 1000 RR Honda that was behind me...<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ... Puget sound?! aahh. wish i was there riding! looks/sounds like a great ride.
we did a fathers day ride here in florida. all thru marion county - race horse farm roads, then out to a sea food joint in ozello. a nice twisty road, twistier than the dragon, but shorter. - probably one of the best roads in florida. what a great day.

Jim,
Great to see such a large group enjoying a beautiful day! All the local riders here run around a glorified go-kart track on private land. Keeps the fuzz control down on the highways, but more than 5 bikes on a ride is unheard of. I usually ride with 3 others at best. Thanks for the post.

Jim,
Looks like a nice ride. I'm glad your group ride went well. We lost a rider last Sunday on a group ride. Sho-Ryders sportbike club had a ride up Kitt Peak. One rider smacked a guardrail on the way down.
I rode up Mt. Lemmon on Father's Day. They have finished the road construction so now I can ride the full distance (about a 75 mile round trip). When I get enough patience to stop I'll have to take some pictures of the top half. Here are pictures of the bottom half.

<a href="http://p072.ezboard.com/fexupbrotherhoo ...

Here's to all you guys that had a nice ride for Father's Day <img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ... iker_3.gif ALT=":riding">

Don

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p072.ezboard.com/bexupbrotherhoo ... djalbin at: 6/22/05 8:45 pm
