Hey Mark What do you use??? I'm a Mastercam and Solidworks kind of guy myself. Just bought a Haas, but would have much rather had a new Mori Seki!!! I am old skool <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/embarassed.gif ALT=":o"> Only use dodgy copies of solid works and autocad to get useable drawings from Iges files. Most of my programming is done using Q parameters on a Heidenhain controller equipped Bridgeport (sharpens up my Trigonometry no end). I also use a Mazak FJV20 but the Mazatrol programming language is the pits, half assed 2D crippled pile of shite. What is Master Cam like to use, easy enough to learn? Mark

Just say no to Mazatrol..... Mastercam in THE SH*T!!!!! Pretty easy and the learning curve is not bad. about 5 ways to do most anything... Jim <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ... Will Mastercam work straight from an Iges or Solidworks model or do you need to do the model in Mastercam to start with? I have a dodgy copy of mastercam and have never tried it. Mark

ok im same trade as mr dragrace and exupturbo, C.A.E/C.A.D/C.N.C delcam compliant, with lathes and machining centres inc:- 4th axis self employment looms with the launch of my bike custom build / design biz, pretty much what jims doing, except anything for anything, set up for polishing/painting/strip re-build etc etc with a drop off strip n do n pick up when done service for locals empolyment in engineering sucks pays terrible lately specially in uk.. change of direction was needed and btw - jim worked on the haasvf 1 & 2's 4th axis & renishaw equipt etc they aint a bad machine matey, i found they hold tolerance well, and that corkscrew for the swarf removal..... see the funnel for ejection... always wanted to know if its known as he 'hass hole' <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> steve

errr in honesty jim, i aint used the floppy at all, as all our cnc's not only the hass's were direct linked straight to the cad suite, this made it easier for use as transferring the progs was not only quicker but we could back them up easier, also stopped the need to use the standard 3 disc system for data safety, this being copys 1-off site 2-office 3-shop floor the direct linking meant that we only used copys 1-office,transfer to m/c and then store or delete when there 2-offsite for remote storage should the office and works go up in flames etc any tech changes could then be done usually with a patch to the prog/as a sub-routine/do loop with the relevent un needed blocks deleted, have you tried contacting haas??? i have found them extremly approachable in the past, especially as theres a key sequence on them, which if hit deletes all saved progs from memory, they managed to assist in providing advice which restored all the previuosly saved data, and subsequently my neck<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/tongue.gif ALT=":p"> good piece of kit once your up an runnin though jim, well designed and thought out, even come with the suds washdown kit which is quite wicked i thought, which is handy for jetting the cr*p from the rear of the slides and cabinet internals any grief jim, email me and i'll see what i can find out tis way, im pretty sure i still have the number of the guy we used to use for the tech support, nice bloke and a great scource of advice steve

Thatnks Steve....It uses the dos file name...not the "O" file name like a Fanuc....I was reduced to reading the book.... For shame...... And I DID call Haas about whether rigid tapping had been enabled from the factory as that parameter was not turned on (it was advertised as having rigid tapping) and they happily gave up the authorization code.... Yea....manuals are a pain in the @ss sometimes you just have to muck about a bit and figgure it out. It's been a year or two since I've run a Haas, been using Accromatic 2100 and Fanuc and Yasnac controls. They're all just different enough to keep you on your toes.... great news you have it sorted, and yep its a serious pain in the butt that theyre so damn different between system controls etc, even worse as i was brought in by one company to sort a machine they had custom made, imagine a hexagon, the first side was a operator load point, the others were horizontal drilling heads, all on the perimeter of m/c and each doing theyre own part in the maching process, each running at theyre own cycle time, once all completed process, it indexed the central body to move to parts to the next stage, also it had a 'wavis' which is a seperate analysis system which constantly monitors and registers the load and tool wear etc, this prevents breakages of tooling all built to its own coding etc etc completly custom made, the company that was commissioned to build this went bust before any programming/operating manual was actually made, nono of the technal crew would touch it as each had played seperate parts in its construction, no one man knew how it worked etc 2.3million in uk sterling to create, and muggings here had to get it into production, god im good<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D"> steve

I now work as a sales rep. for the Fine Wine Division @ Southern Wines & Spirits (Largest distributor of wines & sprirts in the US...(company's worth=7.5B) I work in top restaurants/accounts, doing staff tastings & seminars on proper service, & selling wine to the restaurant's buyers. Some of my accounts are the US OPEN & Shea Stadium(Mets).
