I don't believe it...I actually found a post I was looking for!!! That deserves a <img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ... ananna.gif ALT=":bananna"> (in your honor Clint).

Of course our beloved search engine failed once again...which deserves a <img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ... oapbox.gif ALT=":soap">

I was looking at the Scottoiler today and was really considering purchasing one. Anybody else running one other than Ton Up? Considering the amount of miles I've put on this year it would be nice to have so that I wouldn't have to clean/re-oil every two weeks.

Ton - do you still clean your chain every now and then, or do you even have to worry about that with the oiler?
Nate

87 FZR1000

This space for rent

I recommend the Pro-Oiler. I don't have one yet, but it is much better.
Tim
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ...
Has anyone seen my keys?
Dir. of Entertainment Eddie & the Cruisers
'94 FZR 1000

MyYammi,

MY 98 R1 service manual lists 1.5 - 2.0 in. for slack. I thought that was excessive too, so I tried going a little tighter. That made the chain much too tight when sacked down from my weight. The swing arms on the new bikes are much longer than the fzr and they slope down considerably from the pivot point. You need that slack to accomodate the considerable increase in distance under load. I believe that the engine swing arm combo is similar on the fz1, so it would have a similar chain slack requirement.

My local shop raves about the Honda spray grease that comes in a red can, it doesn't spray a thick grey colored stuff, just clear, which means less dirty looking. And I've learned that its best to do the greasing AFTER your ride b/c the grease has a better chance of soaking into the chain/orings when its hot, when its cold it just sits there waiting for you to take off and fling it everywhere!......Oh yeah, using a wire brush to clean off the chain can be dangerous...can catch and rip an o/x/zring...and of course don't spray them with the pressure washer at the car wash.
