Carb sync/Valve adjustment

Post by thewyatt »

Hello all-
I was trying to search for these related topics but I may have missed the posts.

Here are my questions:
I have a 1990 Vance and Hines %%WORD20%`0. I have had to give her a bit of help to get her in decent riding shape. This is the first bike I have owned. Does anyone have a write up on the specifications for sync'in the carbs? also, and one have a write up on a valve adjustment on my bike as well? (a how to-I haven't seen very much good info on how to do this, except for FZRarchives, but would like a 2nd one to compare to) and lastly, what are the specs for the valve adjustment too?

I know alot of questions for my first post here, but this is the only forum I have found that actually dedicates to this model bike. (Thank God I found this one too)

P.S. I am sync'in the carbs/valve adjustment as I am having a bit of flames being blown out the pipe upon high throttle(although the pipe sounds AWESOME<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ... ananna.gif ALT=":banana"> <img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ... ananna.gif ALT=":banana"> <img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ... ananna.gif ALT=":banana"> ). I have changed the plugs, cleaned the gas tank out(overhauled the petcock/reserve valve (-as the person before me bypassed this), changed fuel filter, and oil/filter. I just want to try and get her to running well enough to ride now that I own her.<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ... iker_3.gif ALT=":riding">

Last bit of knowledge I can give about the bike: It hasnt run for a a year or two. COuld this be the 'richness/flames' problem as well.
Thanks in advance
'the wyatt'
