crankshaft swap

Post by dynodaryl »

Hi all,
I hope that someone will be able to help me, what I want to know is will a crank and rods from a YZF1000 go into the crankcases from a YZF750. I also plan to fit the YZF1000 barrels and the YZF750 head. I have the YZF1000 head as well.
Thanks in advance Daryl.

I want to say that the Thunderace, FZR1000, and the YZF750 all shared the same lower cases. So with that vague info.... I'd say it'll work....
There are some who call me........Tim?

Thanks FZRDude,
I was thinking that if someone laid the base gasket from both model together then tried the head gasket together, that will give an indication of the barrel studs and any oil galleries, also cylinder spacing.
Thanks Daryl.

The cases are the same. the only difference i am told is the length of the cylinder head / barrel studs.

Watch out for the gear ratio between the crank and clutch ring...

If you can be patient DynoDaryl,
I have both blocks and cranks in my garage and would hope to soon get into my 1000, the 750 cases are already cracked.

Yes Yes I know, I said, I'm building a project YZF1070

Basement is done now, 850 finished and gone...
Gotta get the new siding up on the house.
Fixing the FZ1 up, cleaning up garage and then I might even begin
