Intro to Ace of Spades aka Isolato

Post by ace of spades »

Yeah OK, I should've done this earlier, but here goes.

I am Johann Kriek, 26, biking of all sorts since 1988. Live for bikes, although this year haven't been one of my best bike years: End of last year blew my motor of my trusty 200 000km + VFR400. Bought myself a niiiiiiice little '93 Fizzer 1k. Before even getting all the paperwork for the bike, got rammed by a police vehicle: Headlight lens, top fairing and right side panel damage. Decided to do some spraywork on the bike and while at it wrinkle out a few probs and annoyances on the bike. Eventually decided to do some valve clearance adjustment. Gave my shims to the most trustworthy bikeshop around and waited +- 2months for the replacement shims. Put everything back together. Rode around for a short while and BANG!!! The road is gone.

Broken collarbone and ankle, rather badly damaged cosmetics. Got almost all the replacement parts together, waiting and searching for a few odds and ends while the collar bone heals. Will definately keep you guys up to date on the new project.

A couple of shots of where I'm coming from here and a bit later on where this is going

My trusty VFR(almost running again) and BAD-ass Cuzzin at the bottom

Virginia in the Freestate, +- 20k's from Welkom, +- 130k's NNW from Bloemfontein. Smack bang in the middle of good old SA. Which is quite good, coz if I want to go to the coast it is a wonderfull 600km trip to the closest patch of beach, Durban. You from around here?

Hi there.
And welcome to the site!!!

Planning a trip from Cape Town, SA, to Madrid, Spain starting next next November, finishing in February, up the east coast. Nervous about the state of things in the Congo but when or where isn't f*cked up in central Africa?
Won't be using the FZR though. We're going to use two CJ750s!!

Any tips????
John
