The extension looks like it will add around 20 secs and it is mostly slower turns, one or two medium turns perhaps. Will undulate, which will add interest / technical and there is also a decreasing radius left hander it seems. There is no guarantee it will be ready in time and the Barry Sheene entry mentions both circuits as being possible!!

I don't want to be critical but you would be wise changing that rear disc, don't think they had wavy rotors in 1989?

thx spook.i will tyake the old wornout disc with me but it was log booked with this disc on it.the old one is preaty stuffed though.talked to jason about it a while back and he was a bit scepticle of it too.about the only excuce ive got is that i dont use it anyway.cant do too many things at once.

The fact that it has been erroneously log-booked has no bearing on it's eligibility.

Scrutineers at club races are a little/way more forgiving than at an international meet.

Fellow competitors can protest your machine for ineligibility as well, and you would be disqualified.

Steve, looks good, yes probably best to put old disc on or at the very least bring it with you.

thanks spook for pointing me toward the light.....i was just being pig headed i guess.jason has been on to me about it for ages.hows this look,just painted up and banged it on.ran the bike for a bit to check alignment and all seems ok.

Well, the container has already arrived in Melboure and Duke22 flew over this morning.

I expect you Aussies to keep live posts and picture coming though (dam I wish I was there...)

And what's more the container arrived with nothing loose or broken. All unpacked and ready to go, practice day tomorrow - getting nervous now. Weather forecast is good, and for Friday and Saturday too, though Sunday possible rain.

I've been watching lots of youtube videos and have read an article by Kevin Curtain on how to get round PI quickly. Not sure how much I should rely on that though - he talks a lot about drifting and wheelspinning and stuff, which is great if you're a superhero, but might see me visiting the gravel traps. I think I'll stick to my original plan of going slowly and trying to keep it upright...

A fair day for most of us, unfortunately Jaffa took a tumble and we believe he's done a wrist but was otherwise mostly ok. Steve Taylor has been quick, me I've been well off my usual pace but working back up to it, the track has been coated with oil in a few spots, its hot and windy so lap times are harder to find. Pic here of my Honda (sorry!!) beside Duke on his FZR. Note excellent paint job on mine by Spook (who also did some creative work with a grinder on my rear tyre - more on that later!) and Stan was there too so got to meet him.

Kiwi, just got home, Duke had some water pump issues etc and put another motor in but had some probs with it too, great shame but he was very philosophical about it, I would have been smashing furniture! he still enjoyed himself nonetheless, and Pete did too, I had a couple of good runs with him, all good hope we can all converge there next year!

Sitting at the airport waiting to go home. I remember having breakfast in Phillip Island this morning but I'm not sure how I got to Melbourne...its been a long weekend.

A really brilliant race meeting, it was great to meet up with Jason and SJTFZR1000 (or should that be SJTFZR1040?) and Stan and Spook. The racing was great, there was a lot to see and more than a little beer to drink.

The downside? For all the expectation the 960 was a dismal failure, it went worse and worse and in the end Pete Smith and I swapped the spare 1000 motor in. That went fine straight out of the box but rapidly developed an enthusiasm for keeping its oil and water on the outside. So I gave up and watched the racing. Still I got a couple of days of track time, albeit on an increasingly underpowered bike. I really struggled to get to grips with the huge corner speed that track demands, no point and squirt track this one. Definitely lots of respect for anyone who can go fast there. A big cheer to Pete as well, third in the P6 open class, a trophy to take home from his first PI meeting and so close to the 40s with a 1.50.08.

Rider of the weekend? Sorry guys, not a P6 rider - it has to be Beau Beatson on the big Vincent. How do you win when everyone on the grid has 50hp more than you? Simple, you go round the corners faster. Watching him trying to ride round the outside of Mal Campbell at Turn 12 was real heart in mouth stuff. Casey Stoner doesn't try that hard.

Make sure it all hapens again next year Jason and we'll be back. With a bike that works...

yep i agree with duke.it was a top race meet and a fantastic chance to meet a few of the exup brothers with almost everyone getting on well with each other.with the bit of controversy sure to bring some much needed publisity we should see p 6ers come from everywhere next year.i had 6 people come up and ask where they could race there p6ers next year. young ryan taylor(gpz900(998)) is as fast a rider as i have come across.he is a bloody madman.1.43 on johns 87 fzr1000.pehaps i will have to change the sjtfzr1000 to 1040 duke.hope all you guys make it home safe ,ow and i have never seen so many motorcycle engine parts lying around a pit before.well done to get some of the bikes back on the track.i will be back next year with no ignition or drive chain problems so look out 1.47's.thanks for all the help too fellas.
