94 EXUP Dropping a Cylinder
Help Please....<br><br>I've got a 94 %%WORD3%00EXUP. Bike was fine the other day, but when I exceed 5000RPM it starts to misfire and drops a cylinder. I've checked my plugs, they didn't look bad and replaced them anyway.<br><br>Took it for a test ride and was great for 5 miles, then back to the misfire. I've checked the EXUP Valve and thats working fine, so don't have a clue.<br><br>Any advice would be appreciated. <p></p><i></i>

There's probably many things that could cause this. So I would start by troubleshooting the simple stuff.<br><br>Empty the entire contents of the gas tank and fill with fresh gas from a petrol station that you DON'T usually frequent. Also while riding flip the fuel reserve switch several times - waiting a minute or so between flipping the switch back and forth.<br><br>Pull each spark plug wire from the plugs and crank the motor while grounding out the plug to ensure that it is indeed firing (best at night). Also handy to have a spare set of plugs - any will suffice.<br><br>Ensure that the air filter and snorkel of the airbox is free and clear.<br><br>Try disconnecting the cdi black box connector that leads to the exup valve and then drive it. Hmmmm....
Have you checked the plugs? are they burning correctly? not rich?<br>I was thinking that this would sound like a stuck float or needle....<br>Check it out!<br>J <p></p><i></i>
check the plug caps
had similar issue with mine 92 fizer, i find that one plug cap was badly rusted, and the plug was like that of a too rich two stroke engine.... so i removed all the plug caps and cleaned them very well, maybe you dont have to remove the plug cap from the coil wire to clean them. you have to unscrew the plug cap brass screw, there is a spring, a tiny brass shim and a little resistor. first go the spring, after the shim, and than the resistor that btw is 10k ohm and impossible to find as spare part so watch out to not damage it triing clean too well. put some anti rust electric spray, the same used to start wet engine. hope this help. <p></p><i></i>
