Yeah Nbot, I put a manual fan switch in, bypassing the thermoswitch ... a marine toggle switch with a weather boot and then I slobbed liquid electrical tape over the wires and posts. I leave it on most of the time because once my temp goes past 1/4 -1/3 low RPM throttle applications are chancy; sometimes it'll go and sometimes it won't. But today the fan quite on me in downtown traffic, which means the gage will peg in the duration of 3 lights. I split lanes, ran red lights and got home in 8 min compared to 15 ... but temp never got above a 1/3. Now I've got to find a fan and would like to find a constant duty type to replace it with. Go for it, and you could put in parallel with the themoswitch, and use it only when you needed it.

I ride in a lot of stop and go traffic in Dallas. My bike gets hot fast in traffic and cools off quickly when moving. I put a switch in to turn the fans on manually while in traffic. The fans will keep the bike at about 80c. If I don't turn on the fans they come on automatically at 100c and will lower the temp to about 90c before I start moving again.

I read somewhere that you can get a lower temp fan switch for the radiator. I think it might have been on Factory Pro's website. This should help a lot.

Oh yeah, the frame gets to hot to touch.

I believe glycol transfers heat better than water (when mixed 50/50)

Water transfers heat the best but at 100deg it turns to steam and at 0 it turns to ice. Glycol will improve the operating range, allowing your bike to survive a cold night without the water freezing and cracking the block, and allowing you to get to 130 deg or so before boiling. Also a correct pressure cap will increase the temp your engine can handle before boiling.
