New Years Day ride in Seattle
I put together a ride around Hoods Canal every New Years Day. Rain or shine....
Dress warm and lets go out and amaze the locals.
This will be leaving from Bremerton 9:00 sharp. Details of departure point to come shortly. Ride to Hoodsport and up to Quilcene for lunch and then back over the Hoods Canal Bridge maybe over to Port Gamble and some back roads and then back to Bremerton. It's about a hundred miles all told I think. Cold as it may be on New Years...that's usually about as far as I want to go
We usually have five or eight friends go so post up if you're up for the first ride of the year

I didn't make it.
I stayed around the house and cut up more of the tree the fell on my house. Worked for about 5 hours until the 2 chains for my saw were dull. I'll take'em in and get'em sharpend and I'll go at it again the next time I have a day off.

This is the long protracted, drawn out thread.....
It went pretty well...Cold, Wet, Windy....
Good friends, good food, good times.
Too bad you couldn't make it Tim, It was a good ride.
For those that don't know, Hoods Canal is not really a canal at all but a glacial formation that looks like a giant hook. Kind of a Fiord if you will. It's about 130 miles around it I guess.
We started out going around the sourthern end and it was COLD and wet. Close to freezing. Waited for friends at Hoodsport on Hwy 101. They wused out and didn't come out to play. Went north nad the weather got wetter but a littl ewarmer. Finally stopped raining but was getting a little windy. Continued on to the little village of Quilcene for lunch where we (13 bikes) just took over the Loggers Landing Cafe'. Had a great lunch and then headed for the Hoods Canal floating bridge. It was a little "Breezy" shall we say. Blowing about 40mph with 10 foot waves breaking onto the bridge deck. This bridge has the steel grating at either end and in the center. We were doing 25mph in 1st gear and thinking I'll just put on the hazard lights so the car behind us will slow down so he won't run over us when we ALL fall down.
Rode home in a light rain. Was a good time and we got a good looking over by every cop in the county for being out in that stuff.
Big fun!!
