Anyone programming Flash ?
You got answers, I got questions. Things like which editor to use ? Is SwishMAX any good ? Is there any hope of getting 64bit support any time soon ? Any recommendations for books, magazines or other portable media ?

Hmmm, I like simple as long as it's also capable. Here's some background on my situation. I was contacted by a band on Monday and asked if I could create some photographs for them. They were also interested in building a website and want someone to lay the foundation for something they can maintain and update when they're on tour. I'm not too big on their music but it seems that they have made some good connections and might just make the jump into the "big time" music scene here in Nashville. Of course this could be a good break for me as well if I can provide them with with a package deal over the next month or so. I've asked them to send me a few links to sites that they consider interesting so I can key in on their tastes while I review the details of their current registrar. Also while I rebuild my PC again.

flash, shmlash.
we had a full time flash developer on staff at my last firm. the guy was a whiz, but like most good action scripters and flash programmers, wrote a lot of the code directly in flash and a basic editor. used after effects for integrating cool video bits.
if you're looking to try and build a site for them that is easy to update in the future by either the band or someone else, don't use flash. it's cool and all, but the price point and usability differences between a code based and flash based site are pretty big.

I wasn't planning on using a lot of Flash but rather just a few graphics such as banners. I figured I'd leave everything as template-based. I haven't met the fellow in their group that will be performing the maintenance / updates so literally everything is up in the air. One of the sites that the told me they liked is (turn down the volume !) :
