Not the best Easter I've had

Post by kiwi60 »

Gidday,

Was heading up the road to grab a bite of lunch when a 4x4 pulled out on me while going through a round about, result over $3000 damage to the SV, bugger, but not a scratch on me :banana

Damage includes: both mufflers, LH footpeg and mounting, front fairing, tank, handle bars and levers, mirrors, head light, paint, rear brake lever, seat subframe, and the list goes on.

I rode the bike to a racing mates funeral on Wednesday (very sudden and unexpected), and it rides perfectly, so the damage is pretty much all cosmetic.

Haven't claimed on a bike crash since 1980 (Z900), so the record is good, and when I get the bike back it will be sporting a new set of Yoshi mufflers as they cost considerably less than the originals that were still fitted.

The claim is with my insurance company and, as the other driver was at fault, it should go through with out a hitch.

Take care out there guys

Cheers

Good to know you made it through it without much damage to yourself. Hopefully they can get the bike patched up quickly for you. :cheers

Man ! How did you get out with no personal damage ? Good to hear though. I think it's the time of the year. I've had two close calls in the past week.

Gidday,

Yep, none since way back when.

I've been really lucky as all up my 'get offs' have been low speeds (three times because of diesel on the road) and until I got the SV, I was making do with old bikes and wasn't too concerned about patching them up with a spray can etc.

But not this time, I bought the SV new in 2005, and for me at least, it's still the perfect road bike so I want it fixed properly with new parts and professional quality paint work.

Due to other commitments, I haven't been riding it much in the last 12 months, so waiting a while to get it done isn't a major issue.

Cheers

Gidday,

Ah - don't you just love insurance companies - I do!!!!!

They have written the SV off (over $6000.00 damage from a low speed collision) so I have bought it back from them, and with the payout I now have parts for it on the way from just about every corner of the globe, man this is fun!!

PLUS

with the amount that I have got from them, the FZR is starting to make progress with a brand new Kerker FZR1000 4:1 on the way from Canada.

I'll have to wait until the SV is nearer to being back on the road before I go splashing out on motor parts for the FZR, but I will have quotes for the paint work sorted this week so perhaps I'll beat the ol' VISA up some more next week.

Cheers
