EXUP Worldwide was born from the ashes of the original EXUP Brotherhood – the definitive forum for all those who have interest in Yamaha FZ, FZR, and YZF motorcycles.
Well the time has come for me to make some serious decisions about my riding. I have been a commuter for the last 7 years so the 91 FZR 1K has suited that purpose well. It has just ticked over 60k Km and will need some major work done in the not to distant future
A change in my work position means i can now cycle to work every day, and my bike becomes more of a play thing than a dedicated mode of transport
So do i keep my belovered FZR, or make the move to something newer, thinking about a 05' GSXR 750, 163 Kg, 120ish HP, and is ohh so sweet to ride
It doesn't really matter what you ride (not a H*nda please? :ha ) as long as you Ride. If you stick with the FZR cool! If not, stop by every once and a while and check up on us.
There are some who call me........Tim?
In Memory Of John "Silver" Douglas (Dec. 08, 2008) R.I.P. My Friend.
I'm kind of in the same boat Stan however I won't have a verdict on my work status until july. At that time I'm hoping to switch to working from home. If that doesn't happen then I'm probably going to buy a Honda Interceptor (what's that Tim ? ) as I really want something with a warranty that I don't need to spend hours or days working on.
John, John, John, WHY in the world would you buy the Ford F-150 of motorcycling? Please DON"T DO it. Although I am grafting on a VFR SSSwinger, I ain't ever gonna own one. They are so many other good choices other than riding a vibrating, waterless, evinrude without a SOUL. I'm sure if you do it, none of us will be friend anymore?? LOL.
Do what you gotta do man, just buggin' but truly there are so many other good choices other than a Viffer. AND it'll drive you nuts after coming off an FZR.
Michael
Yes Yes I know, I said, I'm building a project YZF1070
Basement is done now, 850 finished and gone...
Gotta get the new siding up on the house.
Fixing the FZ1 up, cleaning up garage and then I might even begin
I guess you're right. I was just reading al of those articles that say it's the best all around bike and such. I really liked the look of the SV1000S however they've completely discontinued it globally. I was thinking they might upgrade the DV650 to a SV750 however that didn't happen. The RC51's been discontinued as well.
Nothing wrong with modern technology on motorcycles - I love riding (and currently modifying) my SV1000S.
It was a total revelation in power and handling when I bought it, and it still stretches the arms when I open it up.
The GSXR 750's are brilliant bikes and are often rated better than the GSXR 1000's as an all round machine - go for it!!!!!!
Satisfied & Happy

Nup, still got them on the shop floor here in NZ as an '08 model, but they are on the way out.
I don't think there will be any issues with spare etc as the Suzuki 1000 V twin started way back with the TL1000 about 1997 and they have become a bit of a cult bike.
Anyway, that's just me sticking up for my choice in bike - back to the Yamaha's.

With both the Interceptor and the SV1000 discontinued, the options have narrowed a little to the Suzuki 'busa, Kawasaki for the ZX-10, the Triumph Sprint ST. I'd like to see an '08 FZ1 with the lower kit as well.

I know...it sucks. Maybe they'll change their mind now that the B-King is out. At least it has a simple switch to limit the power if you're too timid for the full brunt of the Busa engine.
